Sorry its taken so long to reply to your email to Martin Ward about our weekend, but being new to this we have still been finalising some of the details with a view to have everything in place by the end of February for the TRAction details.

We will be sending out further information and the booking forms at the beginning of March. Places are limited so pre-booking is essential and places will be allocated on receipt of booking form

You were asking about accommodation.

The weekend is centred on Quorn Lodge Hotel, Asfordby Road, Melton Mowbrary LE13 0HR. www.quornlodge.co.uk.

Until the end of March all rooms for June 22 & 23 have been reserved at the Quorn Lodge at a discounted rate of £70 per room per night for bed and breakfast.

To book one of these rooms please contact the hotel direct on 01664 566660. You must say you are part of the Leicestershire TR Group weekend to be able to book a room.

It would be helpful for the hotel if you could say whether you plan to eat in the hotel on the Friday night.

We have booked a campanille in Nevers France to go to Magny Cours race track on the 27th till 30th April (3 nights) but we can no longer go due to other commitments (house removal). More info on Dorset for those who didn't make the Antrobus meeting:

Meet on the M56 at services near Chester and travel down South using A and B roads, maps will supplied nearer to the time. The date for going down will be 13th of May. I suggest that we stop overnight in the Bath/Warminster area.

Would you like something like a Travelodge or hotel please advise.

The next day we will complete the trip down to Lulworth arriving about lunch time.

Accomodation: most of the group are staying at Durdle Door Holiday Park hiring static caravans, the site have their own new units which cost £270 to £290 Monday to Friday they are 4 and 6 beds. The site address is Durdle Door Holiday Park on www.lulworth.com or tel O1929 4OO2OO. They also have privately owned vans up to to 7 years old which would be less expensive; details from the site office at the end of Jan.

I have been in touch which the Dorset TR group and have provisionally made arrangements to meet up with them at their meeting point at Wareham on the Wednesday evening where they have a skittle alley, so start practicing as monewy will change hands!

I have just received some more information from the South reference the Dorset run, and it appears that the schools break up the week of the 21st of May, which not only causes problems with accomodation but also puts up the prices by 25%.

We suggest that we move the run back a week to start on Sunday the 13th of May.

Would appreciate feedback asap on this proposed change.

Major Classic Car Event returns to Oulton Park for 2012. Cheshire Auto Promotions are back, already famous for 25 years of events at Cheshire's beautiful Tatton Park, the team feel adding a race circuit venue to the classic car events calendar will be an exciting opportunity for classic car owners to take part in track cavalcades, watch the racing, visit the paddocks as well as all the usual features at CAP events.

The event will include a strong Autojumble/Specialist and general trade stands area, an indoor quality classic vehicle sales mart and outdoor car mart areas, over 70 Top Classic Car Club Stands, 100's of privately entered vintage and classic cars, a special feature on Sunday will celebrate 50 years of the MGB with a massive display in the paddocks.

As usual Cheshire Auto Promotions will be judging all the cars at the show, with over 70 awards each day including many Club Stand awards, with exhibitor attendance plaques available at the show.

Camping is available from 10am Friday for motorhomes, caravans or tents with shower blocks, evening bar and restaurant with a disco on Saturday night.

We have done Classic Le Mans twice and both times we were scorched in high summer - and camping is a non starter now!! It's also gone very expensive!!

For something a little different we MAY do a trip to Burgundy area mid April to mid May in the TR6. This would neatly tie in with Magny Cours Historic on weekend of 28/29 April - see here. It looks really good, and then on way home stop over at Historic Laon on 12/13 May - see details here. Another cracker!

I wonder if any Redrose members are interested?

At the moment I have only 4 of the open date return trips available Dover/Dunkerque at £34 a shot

3 Vredestein Sprint Classic tyres, 185 x 15, 4 years old, 1 unused and 2 have covered 7000 miles only with hardly any wear. They cost me £60 each and now retail at £80. £100 or will sell separately.

4 x Fox alloy wheels with near new tyres, 195/45/16, one wheel with slight curb damage - now dressed smooth but tyre will need replacing. Fit Peugeot 206 but we used them on a 2000 Fiesta. See pictures below. £200.

The weekend was centered around the Crofters Hotel in Gastang with over 60 TRs taking part in the organised runs and over 100 folks attending the Saturday night dinner and entertainment. We've received some fantastic feed back from the majority of those taking part.

This weekend would not have been possible without all of the considerable hard work put in by Red Rose members, I'd like to give a big thanks to all who contributed so willingly to a brilliant and successful weekend.

Just got home and nearly unpacked after a cracking weekend. Just to say thanks to all of Red Rose for their hospitality and organising the weekend, we had a great time!! the only problem you now have is matching it next time.

During the summer months we spend much of our time travelling around the country visiting many Classic Car Shows and displaying our cars, enjoying TR weekends away with other groups, or venturing further afield to Germany (1999), Spain (2000 and 2001), France and Scotland (2002), Italy (2003 and 2006), France (2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007), Cornwall 2008 and many Le Mans meets. The Red Rose group covers a large geographical area including Cheshire, Lancashire, Greater Manchester and Merseyside. It is an active club, as can be seen from the Events Calendar on this site, and from the fact that at the 2008 AGM, we once again had over 60 people in attendance. The club's committee comprises:

and is assisted by many volunteers who organise the runs, visits, quizzes, treasure hunts and other events which take place after the Sunday meet. The club meets regularly on the second Sunday of the month at The Antrobus Arms, Antrobus, Cheshire, at noon, (map) and on the fourth Tuesday of every month at The Dog and Partridge, Charnock Richard, from 8:30pm (map). Antrobus meets are usually followed by an event of some description and everyone is welcome to join in - even if your TR is off the road and you have to come in an inferior marque, such as the occasional MX-5, MGF or Eurobox!

As the events calendar shows, we enjoyed a very busy and varied 2007 - including glorious runs and weekends all over the country (often joining in with other groups such as Wharfedale, Y Ddraig Goch and Shropshire).

Axle broke, bad things occurred. Featured on Dave Despain's show on Speed TV a year or two ago. 360 degree spin on the drivers door followed by a triple barrel roll. Had to do frame by frame to figure out how many times I rolled.
