NGS Open Garden Event - Pete and Sue Hughes

Just a thank you from us both for the fantastic support from all the Red Rose members who braved the weather.  Saturday was certainly the dryer of the two days and Sunday, well it started with a monsoon and then thankfully got better and better.  We’re not sure we saw everyone who may have turned up as it was quite hectic at times. The honours certainly go to Paul and Sue Clamp and Phil who were first to arrive on Saturday and to Alun and Erica who were first to arrive on Sunday.  It was great to see everyone enjoying the gardens.

The count of tickets shows 343 visitors over the 2 days combined with teas, cakes and plant sales raising around £2600.  The Barclays and Royal London pound-for-pound will add a further £1000, raising the total to around £3600.  It was odd counting the ticket sales returns to find the totals had come to something other than a round figure.  It turned out that several of the children had donated pocket money as well, which I thought was very touching indeed.

Thanks once again to everyone.

Sue
